ANYTIME AT ALL

Anytime At All follows a young boy, Jake, who reimagines death not as an ending, but as a gift for the people he loves. Blending childlike wonder with the raw weight of grief, the film explores how imagination can transform even the darkest goodbyes into something beautiful.

ABOUT US

WHO ARE WE?
Play Pretend Originals is an independent film company founded in Santa Clarita, CA. We create stories that are strange enough to feel new, true enough to feel personal, and kind enough to feel human.
For us, “strange” means daring to explore the unusual and unexpected. “True” means grounding our work in honesty, emotion, and lived experience. And “kind” means making sure every story — no matter how dark, weird, or surreal — still beats with humanity at its core.
We’re not just making movies. We’re building worlds, telling stories, and creating experiences that stick with you long after the credits roll.
OUR STORY
Play Pretend Originals was founded by filmmaker Joshua Keir and cinematographer Melody Oyuki — two storytellers who met in Film 101 and never stopped creating together. What began as a classroom short called One Night grew into a shared mission: to build a space where imagination isn’t gated by budgets, connections, or permission.
For Josh, filmmaking started at seven years old — a lifelong pursuit to make something that matters, something that beats with heart and meaning. For Melody, the drive comes from within the industry itself — seeing its cracks and wanting to help others find their voices through it.
Together, they founded Play Pretend Originals not to compete with Hollywood, but to redefine it — a studio that believes storytelling should be accessible, emotional, and deeply human.
